As much as we were all expecting this, the finality of it is difficult to take for all of us. However, as disappointed as we all are, rest assured that we did everything possible to get this bill passed. Your legislative committee did incredible work on this and, despite having the bill die in committee last spring, we actually found new life and ran this thing all the way to the Governor's desk!

Please join me in thanking Warren Daniels, Sherry Daley, Rhonda Messamore, Joe Aragon, Jim Sellars, and especially Willie Guerrero of Kahn, Soares, and Conway, who have all done extraordinary work over the past two years on this bill. I have been honored to be part of such an exceptional legislative team!

Please also join me in thanking Assemblyman Mark DeSaulnier, who carried AB 239 as a true champion for our cause and who has placed higher standards for our profession high on his priority list. Thank you, Assemblyman DeSaulnier; it has been an honor and pleasure watching you utilize your strong influence on the legislature in getting this bill to the Governor's desk!

Finally, I want to thank all of you for the focus and effort you, the membership, have put into promoting the passage of AB 239 - you all really made a difference! I hope this set-back does not extinguish your fire regarding CAADAC's role in ensuring high standards in our profession. It is what we are all about as an organization and we will surely utilize the progress we made in this legislative year to our advantage as we continue to move forward.
