Become a LAADC*!

CAADAC invites you to become a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC*) and to join our campaign to pass Licensure in California

Although you are still learning the skills that are important in your profession, becoming a LAADC* with CAADAC will give you a competitive advantage in securing internships, networking with future colleagues and finding the best job! 

Requirements for applying for the LAADC*:

“I want to start networking now. What better way is there to meet the best in the field than to become a LAADC* with CAADAC/CCBADC?”

 

Reciprocal Credential

Application (make sure that it is complete and  you must have High School Diploma/GED and a Master’s Degree to be eligible for the LAADC* Reciprocal process)

Signed Code-of-Ethic and Scope-of-Practice

Official Copy of MA Degree (specific to behavioral sciences with a clinical application from a regionally accredited college or university within or colleges outside of the US.)

Proof of completion of 180 hours of alcohol/drug counseling specific education.  6 Hours must be specific to counselor ethics. (Transcripts/certificate of completion etc. Hours and topics must be listed on documentation for verification purposes.) 

Proof of Professional Liability Insurance coverage

Two (2) peer recommendation letters (letters must be by your peers, not supervisors, instructors, etc and letters must attest to the applicant’s character and competency and they must be typed, signed and dated) 

Resume  

► Completed Practicum Log (must be completed by your supervisor, make sure that your supervisor is the same supervisor at the same facility on both the evaluation form and practicum log. 

Practicum Evaluation (Must be completed by your supervisor, make sure that your supervisor is the same supervisor at the same facility on both the evaluation form and practicum log. 

A  2 x 2 Original Photo (photo must be 2X2, copies of photos or photos of different sizes will no longer be accepted)

Non-Reciprocal Credential

Application (make sure that it is complete and you must have your high school diploma or GED to be eligible for the LAADC* non-reciprocal process)

Signed Code-of-Ethic and Scope-of-Practice

Official Transcripts (Must include a minimum of 315 hours ADC-specific education from a state or regionally recognized educational program. 6 hours must be specific to counselor ethics.)

Proof of completion of experience and 315 hours of alcohol/drug counseling specific education (official transcripts). (Experience requirements: Non-degree 10,000 hours of supervised ADC –supervised work experience and a CADC II or equivalent or AA Degree 6,000 hours of supervised ADC –supervised work experience or BA Degree 4,000 hours of supervised ADC –supervised work) experience.
